Bahauddin Makbara, mausoleum of 'Bahaduddinbha...

Once upon a time there was a king who had a boy named Navghan and a girl named Zahal. Navghan was to be crowned as his dad’s successor! At the same time, there was a king called Sidhraj Jaisingh, king of Patan territory. His astrologer foretold that he would be assassinated by NAVGHAN when he would grow up, hence Jaisingh decided to kill infant Navghan. Navghan and Zahal were orphans by ten. They used to live with Navghan & Zahal’s faiba (i.e. sister of their father). Jaisingh went to Navghan’s fuva (husband of his faiba) and demanded for Navghan who in fear wrote a letter to his wife in sign language and ordered her to give away their own child disguised as Navghan! Navghan’s paternal aunt gave away her own child to Jaisingh so he could be killed as Navghan.

Navghan was crowned as King of Junagadh; he was referred to as RANA – NAVGHAN!   (RANA = KING)  He got his sister Zahal married to his friend who also was a king of a small territory. Zahal used to be the most beautiful girl in those times .Everyone was well aware about her beauty.

Present day Sindh region in Pakistan was once known as Sumro, after the name of its King Sumro! Sumro heard about the beauty of Zahal, he decided to see her in person. On seeing her, he was so amazed by her beauty that he asked her for marriage. Zahal was already married, thus she turned down his offer.  He said he would give anything on demand if she marries him. After numerous denials, Sumro kidnapped Zahal.  He took Zahal to his territory “Sumro”. Zahal’s husband secretly met Zahal and handed over the letter she wrote to her brother Ra-Navghan.

Now my dear readers this letter has a mystery associated with it.  Till date, there is no such male who can read this letter without any snag or disturbance in between. i.e. if we start reading this letter, we might get a cough, a sneeze or something which distracts the continuous flow of letter reading…

As Ra-Navghan read the letter from his sad sister he was the slave of anger and revenge. He ordered his commander-in-chief to prepare the army as soon as possible.

…….to be continued
